The perfect turn is something that every airline strives for, every time. However, ask yourself this: what is it we're measuring against? As an industry, we all say it's safety first - yet our KPIs are those of time and cost. Whenever I've carried out ramp audits (and I've done a few in my time) and raised my findings on safety issues, the argument in return has always run along the lines of "We're too pressurised, and sometimes our staff take shortcuts to get you turned on time."
