Forest Service errors led to devastation in Ore. blaze

Systemic problems within the Forest Service allowed the 2015 Canyon Creek Fire to spiral out of control in Oregon's Malheur National Forest, destroying nearly 150 homes and structures, an investigation from the Portland Oregonian has found. The newspaper found that though the Forest Service said it had done everything it could and spent $31.5 million to put out the blaze, a series of tactical errors slowed responses to the fires.
