Granular packing: influence of different parameters on its stability

摘要

A packing of equal glass beads is placed on a bo with a rough bottom. The box is slowly inclined till an avalanche begins at a critical angle. The avalanche dy- namics decreases the surface slope until a second critical angle is reached. In previous works [1-3], the stability of the packing was found to be affected by the number of layers, the packing length and the surrounding humidity.
