Double-digit growth in touchscreen panel output seen

Asian makers expect the worldwide market for touchscreen panels to exceed $4 billion this year. Widening applications such as home appliances, information kiosks, POS terminals and industrial equipment are driving demand. Mainland China has seen rapid progress in its touchscreen panel industry, with over 10 makers having large-scale production capabilities. Guangdong is a major production base, particularly the cities of Shenzhen and Dongguan. Industry experts predict that the expansion of the domestic touchscreen panel sector will continue through 2008, posting an annual growth rate of 30 percent.
