As adoption of 5G technology in mobile and wearable devices accelerates, the market for ultrasmall and low-profile tactile switches increases. Mass production of 2.6×1.4×0.55mm variants for smartphones, wireless earphones, and smart watches and glasses is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2021.In China, mini tactile switches as small as 2×3×0.6mm and with -25 to 80 C operating temperatures have been rolled out.But mainstream DIP and SMD units are mostly in sizes of 4.5×4.5mm, 6×3.5mm, 6×6mm, 6.6×6.6mm, 8×8mm, 10×10mm and 12×12mm. These have an operating temperature of-20 to 70 C and a life span of 100,000 to 1 million cycles. Water-resistant types are rated IP65 to IP68.Products follow CE, cUL, GS, RoHS, TUEV and UL standards. Applications include household appliances, computers and peripherals, office automation systems and other electronic devices.Key materials, such as copper, nickel, silver, gold and PVC, usually come from domestic sources.
