This book, based on field work, secondary sources and interviews, traces the evolution of the AIDS epidemic in Latin America and the Caribbean. More than two million people are presently infected with HIV in the region, a figure that is dramatic, but still below African countries. However, the intensity of the stories occurring in the region, and the creative responses they generated, make the examination of the Latin American case very relevant. This is certainly an original contribution that builds on Tim Frasca's AIDS in Latin America (New York: Palgrave Mcmillan, 2005).
