THREE COMPANIES PULL OUT OF U.S. CLIMATE ACTION PARTNERSHIP

Two major oil companies and a prominent equipment supplier pulled out of the U.S. Climate Action PartnershiprnFeb. 16 to pursue more specific climate agendas, which most notably address issues in the transportation sector and the use of natural gas. ConocoPhillips, BP America and Caterpillar, Inc., which is also the most recent company to join the FutureGen Alliance, have left USCAP-a coalition of more than two dozen environmental groups and NGOs who support the passing of federal cap-and-trade legislation. "All three companies have provided invaluable assistance, expertise and significant commitments of time and resources in USCAP's efforts to advance comprehensive climate and energy legislation," USCAP said of its departing members in a Feb. 16 statement.
