21 former German elite javelin throwers were reexamined nearly 20 jears after finishing competitive sport clinically, radiologically and by MRI. The study was induced with the intention to show, which injuries and trouble exist while and after competitive sport. Further the study should demonstrate if there are correlations to the methodology of training. Injuries of the elbow dominate while sports activity, actually problems of the spinal column (mainly lumbal) are to the fire. Elite javelin throwers have a high risk of osteoarthritis of the throwing arm and the hip and knee joints, a reduction of daily activity doesn't often exist.
