Utilisation of modern power electronics based equipment for grid makes the system more vulnerable and sensitive. From the consumer point of view as well as for the service providers, it is essential to maintain a good quality of power to debar from serious financial loss. Thus, in recent days, system engineers are very much concerned about its solutions to tackle the deviation of voltage waveform from its standard level and to regulate the continuity of power supply. Dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) is a typical power electronics based custom power device that has become a magnificent solution in this endeavour. In the present work, an advanced and efficacious control mechanism for DVR is aimed to develop that may provide the required amount of compensation during voltage sag. The present work utilises the suitability of adaptive interval type 2 fuzzy systems in the control domain and makes the DVR more reliable. In order to enhance the capability of present DVR performance, hybridisation of DC energy storage system is realised. An artificial neural network controlled modified bi-directional bi-input bi-output DC-DC converter is also implemented in the adopted test system topology to provide simultaneous supply to the loads at different voltage levels.
