The town administration of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and the operating company of the city railway have planned a suburban connection to Barendrecht in conjunction with the extension of the infrastructure in the area of Rotterdam. This has required investigations for an intersection allowing the train to cross the motorway A15. To overpass the increasing elevation from the ground level to the 8.5m high bridge a 350m long ramp was designed. Due to the insufficient bearing capacity of the sub grade and the tight time schedule special soil stabilization solutions were needed to provide sufficient structural safety. The focus of these investigations was on alternative processes to avoid after construction settlements without additional time for consolidation. It has therefore been decided to base the embankment on the pleistocene sand layer which has been discovered approximate 17 m below ground line. For environmental reasons the mixing of water coming from different levels was not endorsed.%Im Zuge des Ausbaus der Verkehrswege im Großraum Rotterdam, Niederlande, hat die Stadtverwaltung Rotterdam gemeinsam mit dem Betreiber der Stadtbahn eine S-Bahn Strecke zur Gemeinde Barendrecht geplant.
