Earlier this year President Obama ordered the Department of Labor (DOL) to begin working on a new regulatory proposal to change the rules and thresholds for the determination of overtime exemption status for certain positions, namely executive, administrative, and professional. The first component of the potential changes is the salary threshold for these categories. Currently it is $455 a week ($23,660 annually).Some experts predict the DOL may propose a doubling of the salary threshold. According to our wage surveys, some printers (of all sizes) will have positions with starting salaries that are below $47,320.
