Norman Foster has designed a new terminal for the Eurostar that will be part of the largest traffic juncture in Europe. The glass and steel structure lies north of the historic St. Pancras station and is only part of a larger scheme to develop a new city quarter by 2015. Authors of the master plan are Demetri Porphyrios and Allies and Morrison with Townshend Landscape Architects. The planners have avoided high-rise buildings and created a series of public squares, boulevards and parks and housing to the north. Townshend's landscape concept differentiates spaces while incorporating the scattered historic industrial relics in the site.
