Cleaning Technologies - an American Perspective

Drying of coatings and some metal parts is becoming more commonly done with infrared energy. In this column, I want to describe some of the physics, chemistry, and engineering supporting that technology, and to compare it to the same for other drying/ curing technologies. Readers will also learn why there is life on earth! Infrared drying systems are of increasing interest in the U.S. today because the increasing price of energy, a concern that gained momentum about three years ago.
