TAINAN MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS

The site is located in the center of Tainan, the former capital of Taiwan. Many commercial and cultural facilities gather in the area, and the site lies on top of an existing underground parking lot serving these facilities. The competition which we have won is thus a scheme for constructing a municipal museum of 19,071 m2, on top of a structurally reinforced underground parking lot. When we walked around the site during our first visit, we noticed that the town is cluttered with buildings, and lacks parks that would become a place for relaxation for the citizens. Thus, the building type that we envisioned was one that would integrate architecture and the park.
