Studies were carried out on the basis of a field experiment set up on the soil of the rye very good complex. Two methods of soil tillage, that is the conventional and simplified tillage, and seven methods of cultivation including herbicide application, constituted the experimental factors. Copper and zinc contents in potato tubers were determined by the ASA method. The content of the elements as well as their uptake from an area of 1 ha depended on tillage methods, weed control methods and weather conditions throughout the growing season. More Cu and Zn were found in the tubers of potato cultivated conventionally compared with the simplified method. The herbicides applied in weed control reduced the content of the elements discussed compared with the tubers in the control treatment where the mechanical weed control was applied.
