摘要

Hexachlorobenzene (HCB), one of the persistent organic pollutants (POPs), is a refractory semi-volatile organic compound. Treatment of HCB-contaminated waste-water by traditional method is essentially impossible. In this study, the photocatalytic oxidation of HCB pre-ad-sorbed on TiO_2 was examined in aqueous suspension under UV light irradiation. Some factors affecting the photode-gradation rate of HCB were also studied. The results indicated that HCB pre-adsorbed on TiO_2 underwent a fast photocatalysis. In the process, the pH of the dispersion had little effect on the photooxidation rate of HCB catalyzed by TiO_2, whereas the surface coverage, ratio of HCB/TiO_2, addition of Fe~(3+) and H_2O_2 affected the photo oxidation rate significantly.
