AN ANALYSIS OF AN INNOVATIVE CONCEPT REGARDING EXCHANGING RECYCLABLE WITH AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS

Over the last few years various practices are promoted by municipalities in order to reduce and combat the huge problem regarding the management of municipal waste, which very often ends-up in uncontrolled land-filling. Therefore, this article suggests the exchange of recyclable municipal waste with coupons corresponding to vegetables, a method which firstly was successfully applied in Mexico and explores the possibility of applying this method in Greece. The possible applications of this project in the Greek municipalities, could bring a broader economic development and an incentive to promote the production and marketing of agricultural products. Finally, a comparative study is conducted, for the widespread recycling methods, as well as a cost-benefit analysis of the specific method.
