Africa's defense market will continue to be dominated by only a few countries. These countries will constitute the majority of defense expenditure and procurement. Our analysis sees the top five defense spenders in the Africa region - currently Algeria, South Africa, Morocco, Libya, and Angola, respectively - as remaining the highest spenders in the region by the end of the forecast period. In 2019, these countries accounted for about 64 percent of the region's defense spending. By 2024, these five will see a slight loss in total share of spending, to 60.7 percent. Moreover, Nigeria will replace Angola in the top five in the coming years.
