Africa's defense market will continue to be dominated by only a few countries. These countries will constitute the majority of defense expenditure and procurement. The top five spenders - in order, Algeria, Morocco, South Africa, Nigeria, and Libya - accounted for about 64 percent of the continent's spending in 2020. We expect that these five will remain the top spenders in 2025, the end of the forecast period, and that their combined spending will continue to be close to two-thirds of the continent's overall defense spending. Their share of the region's spending will amount to 63 percent in 2025, demonstrating their market power.
