Split-adjusted shares of what's now Purple Beverage Co. have risen 49,000% in five months to a recent $2.95 and a $152 million market cap. That's 105 times the latest book value. The moneylosing Fort Lauderdale, Fla. company has scant revenue. Jumping aboard the hot but very competitive New Age drink bandwagon, the firm calls its sole product—Purple, which retails at $2.99 for 10 ounces—"the most powerful antioxi-dant beverage on the planet."
