It's worth repeating: The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport is the fastest production car in the world-faster than an underwater torpedo or a bullet train. Racer Pierre-Henri Raphanel proved it in July, when he pushed the speedometer of this third and final edition of Bugatti's iconic Veyron line to 268 miles per hour. In an e-mail he says the ride was "a real physical sensation, like a power face-lift." A remarkably comfortable drive, too: "It can be controlled with only two fingers on the wheel." Some of that smoothness is thanks to a seven-speed, double-clutch transmission that can move this beast from zero to 60 miles per hour in 2.48 seconds. The latest Veyron incarnation has 20% more power than the l,001hp Grand Sport.
