Child Nutrition Act of '04 gets Bush, ASFSA O.K.

The Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004 signed into law by President Bush (see story below) makes permanent the federal pilot program to distribute free fruit and vegetable snacks to school children. Created by the 2002 farm bill, the pilot also will be expanded from the original 25 schools in each of four states and one tribal organization to 25 schools in each of eight states and three Indian tribes. Furthermore, funding has been expanded from $6 million to $9 million annually.
