摘要

With the midterm Congressional elections over, the School Nutrition Association (SNA), based in Alexandria, VA, feels fortunate that child nutrition is a "bipartisan" issue, providing opportunities to work with both parties, says Erik Petersen, director of public awareness for the SNA Child Nutrition and Public Policy Center. The primary issues with which SNA is concerned are: 1. Garnering additional commodity monies, specifically for breakfast items. 2. Securing $29 million to fund a pilot to eliminate the reduced-price school meal category. 3. Establishing uniform nutrition standards nationwide, as well as giving USDA the authority to regulate sales of all foods on school campuses throughout the entire school day.
