RECIPE CHALLENGE: The National Restaurant Association has launched its second Kids LiveWell Recipe Challenge, accepting entries through Dec. 15. The contest, jointly sponsored by McCormick For Chefs and Healthy Dining, invites restaurant and foodservice operators to submit one or more recipes from their children's menus that meet the nutrition criteria of Kids LiveWell, which are based on USDA dietary guidelines. There are four categories: independent restaurants or companies with fewer than 20 units, restaurant companies with more than 20 units, contract-managed foodservice and independent non-commercial foodservice. Winners will be recognized at the 2014 National Restaurant Association show in Chicago. For details on submitting recipes, nutrition criteria and contest rules, visit restaurant.org/recipe.
