New Breakfast Regs Roll 'Smoothly' into Schools

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's new breakfast regulations, introduced this fall, have been implemented more easily than were the lunch standards last year, school foodservice directors say. But that doesn't mean that operators don't have concerns, both for now and in 2014-2015. "In our district, breakfast has gone fairly smoothly," says Amy Merda, foodservice director for North Canton City Schools, in Ohio. "One reason, I think, is that we serve fewer breakfasts, and another is that there are fewer components to deal with."
