Growing up in the '90s, we learned that life comes at you fast. Turns out that's true—and then some. I don't think I'll ever get over how quickly the conveniences of my youth (car phones! CD-ROMs!) have become relics of a time gone by. Back then, FaceTime required meeting in person, and Uber was just a German word. As far as food prep went in those days, my parents were ahead of the curve, following a number of principles that would be considered on-trend now: plant-forward, health-focused, from scratch when possible. Foods of convenience played a role in our house, too—thanks to some freezer-aisle favorites and, primarily, cereal.
