The Foodborne Disease Strategy to 2015 published by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) discusses the need to ensure food is safe to eat and that consumers understand about safe food. Reducing foodborne disease can reduce morbidity, mortality and demands on healthcare services, help with issues such school absence, or loss of productivity at work and contribute towards increased consumer confidence in food.
