Probiotic drinks leaders Danone and Yakult have signed a strategic alliance to strengthen their position as world leaders in the market of probiotics and accelerate the growth of both companies on the market of functional food. Since 2004, this alliance has been expressed through several collaborative projects in research and promotion of probiotics, as well as commercial joint ventures in India and Viet Nam. The new agreement provides for continued existing collaborations and considers their extension to more operational areas that are beneficial to both parlies. Danone reaffirms its position as a major shareholder and long-term partner Yakult, and three representatives of Danone will continue to serve on the board of Yakult.
