New Factory Doubles Output For Snacks Firm

Snacks and confectionery firm Glisten has more than doubled capacity at its savoury snacks division with a ￡0.7M new factory at Park Royal, London. The site is producing over 1M packets per week and has enabled the firm to bring some outsourced manufacturing in-house, said chief executive Paul Simmonds. The firm posted a 39% drop in pre-tax profit to ￡2M in the six months to December 31 on sales up 5.7% to ￡35.4M. It said shoppers were trading down in the snacks and confectionery aisles, while heavy promotional activity from major brands had forced it to "re-engineer" products to compete.
