Retailers test for Campylobacter

Intertek is working with many UK retailers in a bid to help reduce Campylobacter, the UK's most common form of food poisoning. Around four in every five cases of Campylobacter poisoning comes from contaminated chicken. Campylobacter is a difficult organism to culture in the laboratory and the environmental stresses products containing the bacterium have been subjected to during handling need to be taken into account during testing, says Intertek.
