BrewDog fixes pumping problem

Scottish craft brewer BrewDog has installed a new pumping system with the assistance of Xylem at its brewery in Ellon, Aberdeenshire to overcome a problem with an existing system, which had increased costs and downtime. The fibrous quality of hop sludge produced was threatening to cause build-ups and blockages at the base of the conventional, flat-bottomed, packaged pump station - causing delays to the brewing cycle with plant downtime and expensive tankering costs.The problems were exacerbated by the high temperature in which the existing system had to operate.
