Dry Edible Beans

Dry edible bean prices were steady to $5 a cwt higher during the past two weeks with only navy beans and kidney beans unchanged. Prices were supported by concerns about planting delays caused by wet weather in the Upper Midwest - especially in North Dakota and Michigan-which boosted pinto and black bean prices as much as $5 a cwt. Planting in the Pacific Northwest was ahead of schedule, and planting in other areas was about average, the U.S.D.A. said.
