Wheat futures advanced last week, extending a rally from contract lows set in late April, in the case of Minneapolis futures, or mid-May, in the case of Kansas City and Chicago futures. Wheat futures were susceptible to the upward pull of a rallying corn market. Corn futures advanced on frustratingly slow planting progress. Rain delays raised the prospect of some growers not being able to plant their corn at all and others shifting intended corn acres to soybeans.
