Those who identified ground markers bombed them, others aimed at the glow of incendiaries. Plt Off Keith Weber raaf (28) and his crew were among those who had difficulty spotting anything to bomb, and when they finally did see the flares, their HP Halifax III was so close to the target that the pilot chose to go round again. This made the crew ever so vulnerable.
