'lefty' Gardner

Legendry warbird pilot Marvin lefty' Gardner died in Texas on Christmas Eve, aged 87. lefty' flew 34 missions over Europe in World War Two, piloting Consolidated B-24 Liberators and Boeing B-17 Flying Fortresses. He received the DFC and an Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters for his valour. After leaving the air force, he became the owner and pilot of Lockheed P-38L Lightning N25Y White Lightning for nearly 40 years, as well as numerous other aircraft including NA P-51D Mustang N6168C Thunderbird. He raced at Reno, Nevada, in his P-38 and P-51 on many occasions. He was also a founder member of the Confederate Air Force.
