Wartime mosaic comes home

The 100th Bomb Group Memorial Museum at Thorpe Abbotts in Norfolk has welcomed home an intricate mosaic featuring a squadron badge - 60 years after it was moved to a cottage garden 12 miles from the former USAAF bomber airfield. The 16ft~2 (1.5m~2) concrete slab - which carries the 351st Bomb Squadron's cartoon-style emblem of a bomb-carrying bird - was spotted by Eighth Air Force enthusiast Arthur Snelling in the early 1960s. It was being used as part of a path at a cottage into which a friend had recently moved in Bedingham, South Norfolk.
