War veteran Lynx at Yeovilton

The Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, Somerset, was presented with Westland Lynx HAS.3GMS XZ720 by the CO of RNAS Yeovilton, Cdre Paul Chivers obe, on April 26. Having been retired from flying in November 2010, the aircraft was initially stripped of useful items as part of the Wildcat Donor Programme. Unserviceable parts generated from that process were then used to rebuild the helicopter to static display standard. The Lynx was completed with original metal main rotor blades and has been painted in the 815 Naval Air Squadron 216 Flight markings she wore while serving aboard HMS Gloucester during Operation Granby (first Gulf War) in 1991.
