Staff at Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome in New York have restored the collection's Albatros D.Va reproduction to flying status, with a first flight likely in the near future. Aerodrome founder Cole Palen and his team built the Albatros, now registered N12156, in the mid-1970s, after he had the opportunity to measure a rare, original 1917 D.Va at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. The reproduction, originally powered by a 120hp (88kW) Mercedes engine (later replaced by a more modern Ranger unit), flew for the first time in October 1975.
