Mitchell receives 'TLC' in US

North American B-25J Mitchell 44-30635 is being refurbished by a team of volunteers at the Chanute Air Museum in Rantoul, Illinois. The work has recently focused on tackling corrosion and repairing or replacing fittings to make the aircraft more presentable for public display and to preserve its longevity. The Mitchell was delivered to the USAAF on February 7,1945, and first went to Moody Air Force Base in Georgia. In August 1958 it was flown to a training school, then at Chanute, but was soon earmarked for public display. It remained on external display for many years until the museum obtained the former air base's hangars during the 1990s and was able to bring it inside.
