A new reproduction of a Yakovlev Yak-3 is now active in France, having made its first flight in September 2020. The aircraft, registered F-AZOS and owned by Michel Defaye, was partially built by Frenchman Jean-Marie Garric in Texas and equipped with the wings of a Yak-11. It's one of a small series of Yak-3UAs (the 'A indicates that it has an Allison engine; original Yak-3s had Klimov powerplants) built by Garric, and was originally bought by French collector Jean-Marie Delimboeuf. The bid to complete the aircraft and bring it to full flying status began in 2014 at Bruno Ducreux's Aero Restauration Service at Dijon-Darois airfield in Burgundy, France.
