Written by a former PAF fighter pilot, this well researched and profusely illustrated monograph is a concise account of the two-week conflict that prompted the creation of Bangladesh from the former East Pakistan. Written very much from the PAF perspective, this is nonetheless a balanced account of the air action that took place primarily along the borders of what was then West Pakistan. With the opponents operating (then) modern jets of both Soviet and Western design it was an opportunity to examine their relative merits. The author covers not only the air-to-air and ground attack actions of the PAF and Indian Air Force but also those of the Indian Navy's sole aircraft carrier, about which little has previously been written. There are handy tables outlining all losses and the content is complemented by several maps, seven pages of high-quality colour side views and more than 80 photographs, though sadly the reproduction of some of the latter is poor. Overall, a very useful reference.
