New Zealand's Classic Flyers aviation museum is restoring Grumman Avenger TBF-1C NZ2539 to taxiable status. The aircraft did not serve in the US, but arrived as part of a group of 12 Avengers (NZ2537 to NZ2548) in Auckland on the SS Peter White, and entered RNZAF service in 1944. It flew from Suva, Fiji, in a communications role, returning to New Zealand in 1945, where it was used as a target tug. It was one of the last Avengers to serve the RNZAF, making its last flight in or around February 1946.
