While taxiing in the Aero L-39 Albatros piloted by my friend Carl Scherman, I couldn't help but admire the subject of the day's photo mission... a true icon of the Cold War era. Holding at the engine run up point in the early morning sun, the former Royal Norwegian Air Force (RNoAF) Northrop F-5A Freedom Fighters gloss grey paint positively glowed. The machine was bought last year by Jeff Kaney, who operates it from the Kaney Aerospace facility at Rockford Airport, Illinois, USA.
