C/L Combat

The World Champs at AMA Headquarters in Muncie, IN July 3-11, 2004 was a real championship meet. The venue, as the visitors are likely to say, was first rate. The competition at the world level in Combat has really gotten much better over the years. Sixty-one flyers entered. The planes are about 10 mph faster, the pilots across the board are much more practiced and skilled than at the last World Champs in the US in 1984. All in all, it was an excellent meet, well run by Pat Willcox and his crew. They deserve a hearty round of applause. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay for the whole thing due to some problems at home. Here is a brief report on the first round and some early action in the second on Wednesday.
