Texas AirBus

I have been building rubber powered model airplanes since I was 10 years old. Since I am currently 64 years old, that's a long time! I recently returned to the hobby after retiring from my profession as a piping designer. Using the drafting skills required by my profession, and my penchant for building something "different," the Texas Air Bus was a "natural." The inspiration for the Air Bus came from my current job as a school bus driver. I had taken one of my models to work and was demonstrating its workings to the lead supervisor. She requested that I build her a small school bus airplane, and the idea began to take shape. The boxy fuselage closely follows the actual shape of a school bus. A little streamlining, the addition of the tail surfaces and wing, and you have a "flyable" school bus. Several of the other drivers heard about the project and, of course, they also had to have one.
