The normal threading devices are unsuitable for processing flock yarns on flat knitting machines. The flocked yarn surfaces pose special demands on the effectiveness of threading. This is confirmed by the high filament tensile forces and filament breakage during testing. Gentle and low-tension threading is required for flock yarns. The investigations indicate that the filaments should be taken off the original bobbin when knitting flock yarn. This can only be done when the height is sufficient for the bobbin and taking off the filament. As a result of developments and modifications in threading and knitting technology, the number of thread deflection points has been reduced, the effect of the lateral yarn tensioning device has been minimized, and suppliers are used along with knitting site settings especially adapted to flock yarn.
