The development and realization of innovative products that offer a high level of comfort or special functionality require highly developed knitting technology, fashionable design, and an alternative use of material. Unlike traditional knitting yarns, flock yarns, which were rarely used in flat knitting until recently, have become an interesting enrichment for yarn applications. Part Ⅰ of this article examines the properties of selected flock yarns that are important for their use on flat knitting machines. Part Ⅱ will analyze the problems that crop up with knitting on flat knitting machines and develop modified solutions for proper processing. The findings will be used to create a concept for new flock yarn variants that are better suited for use in the knitting process.
