Flocked yarns - produced by passing adhesive coated yarns over bed of flocked particles overlaying positive electrode the yarns forming negative one

Yarns or filaments are flocculated by passing adhesively coated yarns which are connected to a negative or earth potential above a single positive electrode arranged below a cloud of diaelectric flocculating particles, which in consequence of the electrostatic field produced between the yarns and electrode are attracted to the yarns. Yarns with uniformly distributed particles are produced without rotation of the yarns. Preferably the electrode is adjustable w.r.t. the yarns such that the distance is progressively reduced in the direction of movement of the yarns. Adjustment brings about differential acceleration of the flocculating particles, the acceleration being highest at the outlet from the electrostatic chamber.
