XWB 'lite' qualifies for charges cut

Airbus is offering the A350 XWB with an optional 30t lower take-off weight to allow airlines to benefit from lower charges when using the twinjet on medium-haul operations. The lower weight will be achieved through paperwork changes and cockpit placards and will not affect the aircraft's structure. An engine derate of up to 40% is also available. Meanwhile, the XWB's proposed 10-abreast high-density seating layout is now "on offer", says Airbus, which has released computer-aided design model images that show its latest thinking on the fuselage and nose shape.
