SIA Cuts A350 XWB Order

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has given up seven of its outstanding Airbus A350-900 production slots - following a request from Airbus to cut its order book from an order for 70, firmed up in 2013, down to 63. No reason for the change has been given but, in its recently published quarterly report, the carrier said the move would "not materially affect its fleet renewal or growth plans, as adjustments have been made to bring forward deliveries of other A350-900s on order".' It also said it has options to extend some A330 leases, which the A350 XWB is replacing. SIAs first A350-900 is now in final assembly in Toulouse and is due for delivery early next year.
